Selecting an Autopilot Software

Aerotas recommends Map Pilot as an autopilot software, however, other autopilot softwares exist.

There are many autopilot softwares out there, when selecting an autopilot software, there are some key features that you should be sure the app supports at a bare minimum to ensure proper data collection.

  • Overlap settings

    • You should have the ability to change the photo overlap settings to your desired overlap.

  • Flight line manipulation

    • You should be able to manipulate your flight lines to orient in the direction you want them to depending on wind and other factors.

  • Clear representation of flight boundaries

    • This will aide you in making sure you encompass your entire data boundary.

  • Altitude selection

    • You should have the ability to change the altitude at which you fly.
